As part of its mission and purpose, the Greater Augusta Arts Council (GAAC) has been charged with supporting arts education in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). The GAAC Arts Education Department works to increase and broaden arts education programming in our local schools.

Due to legislative and budgetary constraints at both the state and district levels, this role becomes increasingly more vital each year. As schools strive to return to the basics, the arts have been sacrificed in ord

er to focus more attention on the core curriculum.

Everyday, teachers face a diverse student population with limited resources and time. In approaching the demands of teaching these citizens of tomorrow, educators must look for new avenues to pave the way for successful learning. Teaching through the arts has proven to be the one tool that reaches students of all abilities, all economic backgrounds and all races.
