First Friday, November 4, 2011
5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
On the First Friday of each month a celebration is held downtown on Artists' Row - extending from 7th to 12th Street. Galleries and studios remain open those evenings to debut new works, arts and craft vendors sell their wares, and music can be heard all over. We invite you to visit First Friday and return to enjoy our music, food, museums, antiques and attractions. First Friday is a free, monthly, family friendly event in Downtown Augusta.

To better meet our organizational mission of advancing the arts in Augusta and the CSRA, GAAC has revised our role in facilitating First Friday. This new, revised role will go into effect immediately following First Friday March 5th 2010.
GAAC will continue to facilitate:
Entertainment at The Broad Street Clock
Arts and craft vendor approval, registration and placement
Facilitate occasional special event entertainment on 10th Street. For example, music in May for the James Brown Birthday Bash.
Event marketing and publicity
press releases, facebook and other social media event promotions, GAAC website and calendar listings, creating/printing/distributing First Friday flyers to area businesses, etc.
GAAC will no longer facilitate:
Non-profit approval registration and placement
Political and religious organizational approval, registration and placement
Monthly entertainment on 10th Street
Monthly entertainment on 11th Street
Non-profits, Political and Religious groups
GAAC will no longer be registering and coordinating placement of non-profit, political and religious groups.
If you are an organization wishing to participate in First Friday, simply contact a downtown merchant directly to gain permission to set-up outside their business. If approved, the business owner will give you a monthly participant pass so the authorities know you are an approved organization/participant.
Arts and Craft Vendors
Greater Augusta Arts Council will continue to facilitate approval and placement of all arts and craft vendors along Broad Street. To participate, complete the Vendor Application available online at: www.AugustaArts.com/applications, or contact the Greater Augusta Arts Council or call 706.826.4702.
Participant Conduct
The Participant Rules for First Friday remain in effect. First Friday is a family-friendly event and all content and conduct should reflect the “kid friendly” environment we have worked to create. Event participants shall not approach or harass event patrons with political or religious ideology and/or materials, or to solicit sales or donations. Event participants will conduct themselves in a manner fitting with the family-friendly event environment. Use of profanity and sexually explicit or violent music/artwork/content, etc. is prohibited.
Music and Entertainment
PLEASE NOTE: Greater Augusta Arts Council will no longer coordinate music at 10th and 11th Streets on a monthly basis. Going forward we will book entertainment each month at The Broad Street Clock. This will limit the number and types of performers we are able to accommodate each month.
In conclusion, the Greater Augusta Arts Council looks forward to continuing to participate in First Friday and working with the community. Our new, revised role in this event will free up valuable staff time and allow us to work on creating new arts and cultural programming in Augusta and the CSRA while also better serving the artists and arts organizations that make our community so unique.
