This holiday week, we’d like to try something a little different than the usual newsletter. We want to know what kind of public art inspires you!
Have you seen public artwork that brings a smile to your face, makes you pause to think for a bit, or brings an unexpected bit of beauty to your day? Post about it on social media and tag the Greater Augusta Arts Council for us to share your public art story! Whether or not you saw it here in Augusta or on your holiday travels, we want to see the works of art that you love. Share as much as you know about the artwork, and why you love it.

Save the Date to Support the Arts! GA Gives Day November 27
Save the Date to support the arts on this year’s “Giving Tuesday” by participating in Georgia Gives Day! The Augusta area is lucky to have some amazing arts nonprofits, and the Greater Augusta Arts Council will be making it easy to donate to them next Tuesday!
Keep an eye out for a list of participating arts organizations that will have donation pages & . mark it in your calendar – November 27!
Golden Blocks Project Deadline: December 3
Applications are due soon for the Golden Blocks Project, a new initiative to bring public art and creative placemaking to the Laney Walker/ Bethlehem neighborhoods. Applicants interested in submitting proposals for the Golden Blocks Project must schedule an appointment with the museum before the deadline. Historian Corey Rogers will meet with applicants and share a wealth of insights to the area’s history and community.
Appointments will be scheduled at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, Address: 1116 Phillips St. The Golden Blocks Project is open to all artistic disciplines.

Interested in learning more about the application process to become an artist vendor at Arts in the Heart of Augusta? Information sessions for next year’s festival will be hosted in December & January. Come with any questions you have about the application process and what it takes to sell your work at one of Augusta’s favorite festivals!
Information session schedule:

- Wednesday, January 9, 12-1pm
- Friday, February 1, 5:30-6:30pm
WINTER ART SALE DEADLINE APPROACHING – 11/28
The 3rd annual Winter Art Sale deadline is coming soon – Next Wednesday! Sell up to 3 works of art at this popular sale, hosted at the City Gallery in the Municipal Building. Works must be small scale and priced under $150. Sale runs December 3-21. Learn more at the link below
