Call for Artists: Virginia Beach Sports Center Complex Installation
via Virginia Beach Public Art
The Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department, in partnership with the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, seeks to commission a professional artist to create a series of sculptures which will be placed on the grounds outside of the new Virginia Beach Sports Center.
These vibrant installations will be a welcoming beacon to the Sports Center, as well as a gateway to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and ViBe Creative District.
Virginia Beach is looking to commission pieces that are family friendly, will be the source of countless, exciting “selfie” moments to engage residents and visitors alike and will be highly visible both day and night! Artists should keep in mind that this is a very highly trafficked location, and hosts many different types of guests, including student athletes, families, residents, game day attendees and local pedestrian traffic.
The sculptural installations will be placed at four designated sites along the 17th Street and Jefferson Avenue sides of the Sports Center complex. Interested artists can view installation options and examples in the application at the link, below.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, must operate a business or have representation in the United States, and must have successfully managed and completed at least one similar commission project with a budget equal to or greater than $100,000.
