THE DEADLINE FOR THE ART CART CALL FOR ARTISTS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO AUGUST 17. The Arts Council is currently taking applications and mock-ups from local artists for inventive designs for the Art Cart, a new piece of public art that gives a nod to Augusta’s golf ties while offering the community a place to view local art, a shaded place to sit, and even a charging station for their phone. The Sunday edition of the Augusta Chronicle featured public art in Augusta in their article, “City seeks to improve culture… by augmenting public art.” Reporter Damon Cline covers the newly finished Public Art Master Plan for the Augusta River Region, as well as the importance of public art in economic development.
The Arts Council is partnering with Augusta University’s Masters of Public Administration program to survey Augusta neighborhoods for their feedback on future public art projects.
