The Arts Council is currently taking applications and mock-ups from local artists for inventive designs for the Art Cart, a new piece of public art that gives a nod to Augusta?s golf ties ? while offering the community a place to view local art, a shaded place to sit, and even a charging station for their phone. At the November 15 Commission meeting, commissioners approved the Greater Augusta Arts Council?s Policy on Public Art as well as a Memorandum of Understanding for Professional Services related to Public Art with the Greater Augusta Arts Council.
The Greater Augusta Arts Council recently hosted their annual Legislative Luncheon on November 10, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Cultural Center. Over 100 community members were in attendance to hear speakers on the topic of public art in Augusta.
